Elizabeth Barelli is a Visual Artist and Creative Strategist based in the Bay Area, CA.
Elizabeth currently focuses on her creative practice and independently consults and advises businesses, organizations and individuals.
Her practice is rooted in visual arts, manually and spiritually meditative, combining embodied experience with research. She is driven by intuitive experiments, blending a variety of media, whether working with words, color, clay, fiber or light. Through her work, a sort of ‘conceptual craft’, she seeks to create experiences that actively engage sensorially and emotionally. Multi-disciplinary, she cares about creative collaboration, cross-pollination and leveraging new technologies in mindful ways.
Subjects she is interested in include natureculture, the way humans relate to art, the blurry lines between the natural and the human-made, and the nature of the creative process. She draws references from philosophy, feminist theory, psychoanalysis, mythology and literature to illustrate personal narratives rooted in the female experience.
Prior, she worked for over a decade in creative technology serving artists and bringing products and stories to life for design-centric brands like Adobe, Sony, Medium and Blurb Books. The projects she spearheaded in immersive design got accolades such as a Webby Award, an Anthem Award, and garnered recognition from Fast Company and Forbes. She also shared her experiences with talks at Adobe MAX, the Cannes Lions, the Smithsonian conference and other events globally.
She co-created MAD, a support community and book club for Mothers in Art and Design in the Bay Area.
Born and raised in Nice, France, she currently lives in Berkeley, CA with her partner and baby rugrat, where she likes to weed her garden and host dinner parties.
